I'm still breathing

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 8, 2009, 3:32 AM

socsaint's AMAZING journal

I'm Alive

So's I decided to do something with journal CSS. I don't know why, I just felt like it. So I made my own custom journal, time for happy dance, yes? This is my fiancé in the lovely photo. We both like Mountain Dew lots. It don't matter how ugly this here thing is, since it's Mountain Dewey (and kinda Christmasy)!

There won't be any features this time around. I'm afraid I just don't have the time for that. I've pretty much vanished from the forums on here too. Blasted things are addicting, better to stay away for now.

Moving On...

Anyways, the Portland Freeze 2009 has passed. I was one of the photographers for the event and was loaned a camera from a friend (he had a better lens). I got to shoot with the Canon 20D, so it was fun learning what Canon has to offer (I'm a Nikon user). Had some hickups, but it went well overall. The event was far more organized, and having the assistance of the Rose Festival made it even better.

For those who don't know, the Portland Freeze was just like the Grand Central Freeze. Everyone part of it stopped moving at the same time, and then started moving again seven minutes later. We had 1600 people this time, and it was pretty hilarious. Lots of people were quite confused, and the children's reactions were adorable.

Might put some photos of that up later. It's quite a few, so I might just put them all on flickr. Currently, you can only view them on Facebook.

The Important Stuff

First and foremost: I'm getting married on August 21st. I've lived with my parents all my life, so it'll be quite the change, but it'll be worth it.

Secondly, I'm now running dual monitors! Joe had $150 in Best Buy gift cards and bought the Acer H233H 23" monitor. I feel like I'm being eaten by technology, but it's pretty cool to have it set up like this. I do get the feeling that this won't help me any with my ADD, since it makes multitasking so much easier. Oh well, I like it.

I have an internship this summer, so I still won't have time for much extra stuff. I can't say how active I'll be, but the internship will hopefully teach me a lot about working with others on a media crew.

Almost done with school, blah blah blah. I've obviously learned something about web design this year, since I made this skin fairly easy. I guess I was in the mood to make it since I finished my final website for web design class. I don't know how that made me want to do more CSS stuff, since I hated that assignment. Oh well.

Sadly, since I'm about done with school, that means I have to say goodbye to the studio for four months. I was really starting to like that studio. And those lights.

The only other thing I can think to say is that I'm level 2 on Yahoo! Answers. That means I can give you a thumbs up or thumbs down now, so betta watch out! (that's the only reason I got to level 2, haha)

deviantID

I'm currently 19 years old, well on my way to being 20. I'm a photography major (only digital, but I hope to get a serious look at film after I graduate). I'm Christian, and not one of those phony ones with the double life.

I'm not yet considered a professional, but I probably will be before September, which, sadly, disqualifies me from amateur competitions.

My equipment is rather basic. I have a Nikon D40 with the 70-300mm VR AF-S lens, the 18-55mm stupidly soft kit lens, and the 50mm MF F/1.4 lens. The only nice thing I have, other than the 50mm, is the Adobe CS4 Master Collection. But it's the educational version, so I'll have to buy it all over again when I graduate.
